STAGE 2
3C, 3MP, 4A, 4PJ
What a busy and exciting term it’s been in Stage 2! Our classrooms have been buzzing with learning, creativity, and collaboration. Students have worked hard across all subjects and shown wonderful growth, resilience, and enthusiasm.
This week, we are heading off on our history excursion to Botany Bay! Please remember that even though the days have been cool, it’s important to be sun safe. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen, bring a hat, and pack a water bottle and lunch for a great day of outdoor learning and discovery.
There’s still so much more to come this term!
Upcoming highlights include:
🎤 Spelling Bee Finals in the school hall – Wednesday 18th June, 11:50 am
🏀 Basketball Clinics – a fun way to keep active and build teamwork
🖤💛❤️ Aboriginal Culture Incursion – a special learning experience that deepens our understanding of culture and Country
🌱 ‘Bring Back the Bush’ Excursion – an exciting environmental education opportunity, more information to come soon!
🐝 Buzz Day – Movie and popcorn reward for those who have been working hard this term!
A reminder that Semester 1 student reports will be sent home at the end of the term. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress, please don’t hesitate to book a meeting. We welcome the opportunity to connect and work together to support your child’s learning journey.
Take a look at just some of the amazing things we've been doing this term.
This term, Year 3 has fallen in love with the king of the outback — the alpine dingo. Inspired by the heart-warming story of Wandi, we’ve been learning all about this unique and often misunderstood animal.
In our mission to help save the dingo, we have been hard at work during English lessons:📝 Researching and collecting interesting dingo facts
🎨 Designing convincing posters to raise awareness
🎙️ Writing and recording our very own informative podcasts
We’ve worked collaboratively, shared ideas, and used our voices to make a difference.
So… what do you think? Are dingoes pests — or precious protectors of the ecosystem?
Do you believe they should be saved?
Have we convinced you?
We are excited to share that our Year 4 students have been diving into the world of data collection and presentation! This term, they have been learning valuable skills in how to gather information and represent it visually.
One of the key aspects of their learning has been the construction of dot plots and column graphs. These tools help students to organise and analyse data effectively.
By learning these skills, our students are not only enhancing their mathematical abilities, but also developing critical thinking skills that will benefit them in many areas of their education.
Stage 2 students have engaged in an exciting exploration of contact and non-contact forces. They investigated how the strength of a force can be measured by observing the distance an object travels after a force is applied. Using toy cars and marbles, they examined the amount of friction present on different surfaces.
It has been a fantastic term of discovery and learning in our science lessons!
In Year 3, our students are diving into the world of data and patterns through fun and engaging hands-on activities! Using a variety of manipulatives such as coloured blocks, counters, dice, and charts, students are collecting, sorting, and representing data in meaningful ways. They are also exploring number and shape patterns by building, continuing, and creating their own patterns using these objects.
These practical experiences help deepen their understanding and allow them to make connections between mathematical concepts and the real world. Most importantly, it’s been a wonderful way to build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they learn through doing!
