Science at BPS
Term 3, Week 2
Our curriculum focus in Foundation will look at how objects can be made of one or more different materials and that these materials have observable properties that we can describe.
The grade 1/2's will discover where materials come from and how they change when combined or form new products.
In grade 3/4 we will consider how solids, liquids and gases have observable properties; and that adding or removing heat energy leads to a change of state between solids, liquids and gases and our 5/6's will dive deeper into states of matter by looking at how changes to substances may be reversible or irreversible.
With some fun activities planned, it's shaping up to be an explosive term of chemistry understanding.
And don't forget.... You matter because you're made of matter! (Our slogan of the week)
We are counting down the weeks until Science Day which will be celebrated on Thursday 14th August (Week 4). Our dress-up theme for the day is to Come as a Scientist you might like to be. Do you like fungi? Then come as a mycologist. Interested in fossils? Paleontologist is the dress-up for you. Want to be a rock and mineral expert? Be a geologist for the day. We look forward to seeing all our budding scientists on the day, where we will have a fun chemistry based incursion, some experiments and an assembly parade to celebrate our scientists.
Stay Curious!
