ACC Senior Boys and Girls Netball Championship
On Friday, 23 May, our Senior Boys and Girls Netball teams represented SNC at the ACC Netball Carnival. Despite the challenging weather conditions, with rain and patches of sunshine, our teams showcased exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
The Senior Girls team had a strong showing:
SNC 32 def Clontarf 2
SNC 28 def Quinns Baptist 17
SNC 21 defeated by Emmanuel 27
SNC 31 def Mercy 10
Their efforts have earned them a chance to compete in a playoff qualifying game against Kingsway later this term, aiming to secure a spot in the Round of 16 next term.
The Senior Boys team also delivered impressive results:
SNC 20 def St Georges 11
SNC 19 def St John Bosco 8
SNC 17 defeated by Kolbe 20 (a valiant effort against last year’s reigning champions!)
SNC 18 def Mundaring 3
The Boys will now compete in a tri-tournament against Kingsway and La Salle, with hopes of securing the final spot in the semi-finals next term.
Congratulations to all players for their hard work and resilience on the court. We wish both teams the best of luck in their upcoming matches!

College Football Students Attend Premier’s Press Conference
Last Thursday, a small group of our Specialised Football students were given a prestigious opportunity to take part in a high-profile media event at the Sam Kerr Football Centre. We were proud to be the only school invited to attend, thanks to our strong relationship with Football West and the Centre.
The event was held to announce funding for two additional pitches at the Centre, with Premier Roger Cook and Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti leading the press conference. While the press conference was underway, our students conducted a short training session in the background, before having the exciting chance to meet and enjoy a kick-around with the Premier and Deputy Premier once proceedings concluded.
The event was covered by several major Australian news outlets — a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase both their skills and their pride in representing the College.
We are extremely proud of the way our students conducted themselves throughout the event and are grateful to Football West for extending this invitation to us. It was a memorable experience that highlights the strong connections our program continues to build within the wider football community.
SSWA Football – Mid-Competition Update
We are now halfway through the SSWA competition, and it’s pleasing to report that all of our teams are still in with a chance to progress to the Champions Bracket.
Throughout the campaign so far, each team has displayed a number of positives on and off the ball. However, an area for continued improvement will be building greater consistency and maintaining our competitiveness, particularly when games aren’t going our way.
We look forward to seeing how the teams finish the second half of the competition and continue to represent the College with pride. A comprehensive report on the program’s progress will be included in the next newsletter.
Upcoming Football Program Trials – Week 8
Trials for entry into our College Football Program will be held in Week 8. A reminder that applications close this Friday (Week 7) — no late applications will be accepted.
If you’re interested in joining the program, make sure to submit your application on time and be ready to attend the trials in Week 8.

Senior Basketball – ACC Finals Update
Our Senior Boys and Senior Girls teams have now completed their regular SSWA fixtures. Both teams performed strongly throughout the season and finished second on their respective ladders. They will now progress to the finals, where they’ll take on the top teams from the northern competition. We are proud of the effort, commitment, and teamwork our students have shown across the season and look forward to seeing how they perform in the finals.
We would also like to congratulate three of our students who have earned selection into the School Sport Western Australia (SSWA) representative teams. Leeshar Tuialii and Mafa Tuialii will compete in the 16 & Under Girls team, while Andre Dweh has been selected for the 16 & Under Boys. These students will travel to Brisbane in July to compete at the National Championships, proudly representing both Western Australia and St Norbert College. We wish them all the best for the tournament ahead.

ACC Cross Country
On 5 June, St Norbert competed in the ACC Cross Country Carnival, where athletes showcased their dedication and hard work at the ACC Cross Country at Alderbury Reserve. There was a minimum of 350 runners in each race, and our students showed some great competition with many juniors and seniors coming in the top 100.
A big congratulations to these individual award winners:

Maddison Walters (Year 12): 30th Overall

Rory McDermott (Year 8): 26th Overall
Xavier Smith (Year 8): 18th Overall

Special congratulations to Jack Mallabone for placing in the top 6 of both Year 11 and 12 age groups; he led the senior group well.
There were many parents, teachers and supporters who came down and helped bring the best out in our students. Thank you to Miss Katie-Anne Woodford who warmed everyone up before their races, and a big thank you to all the PE department who made this day happen.

Junior Boys AFL Recap
The Junior Boys AFL team has kicked off their Eagles Cup campaign with two away games, showing plenty of promising signs and improvement across both matches.
Round 1 saw the boys travel up Great Eastern Highway to face Eastern Hills Senior High School — a team known for their strong, physical brand of footy. The first half was a tough contest, with Eastern Hills gaining the early advantage and putting our defence under pressure. After halftime, the SNC team made some key positional changes and responded well, matching it with Eastern Hills for much of the second half.
Jasper Dunsford-Goodwin earned best on ground honours, kicking our first goal and consistently impacting contests across the ground. Charlie Norrish was a key playmaker through the midfield with his smart decision-making and clean marks, while Aaron McKenna and the captain of the round, Alex De Marchi, were outstanding in defence, holding firm against repeated entries. A special mention goes to Harper Kacimaiwai, who made his AFL debut in the ruck and gave our midfielders first use of the ball. Max Tan also kicked a fantastic goal, giving the team a boost during a crucial moment.
Although Eastern Hills claimed the win, the effort and intensity shown, especially in the second half, was a strong foundation to build on.
Round 2 took the team up Great Northern Highway to face Swan Christian College. Learning from the previous game, the boys came out more structured and confident, resulting in a tight and hard-fought contest. Swan Christian led narrowly at halftime, 1.1 (7) to 0.2 (2), leaving everything to play for in the second half.
Swan Christian came out strong after the break, kicking three quick goals to extend their lead. SNC responded well, controlling play in their forward half for much of the remaining time. However, they were unable to fully capitalise, managing just one goal from several shots. Swan Christian sealed the match with a late goal after the siren, with the final score 5.2 (32) to 1.6 (12). Despite the loss, the boys' improvement and intensity were clear — they’re just one step away from turning dominance into scoreboard success.
Thomas Gibb was named best on ground for his strong marking and explosive play around the ground. Captain of the round, Jasper Dunsford-Goodwin, continued his fine form alongside Charlie Norrish, both consistently winning the ball and setting up attacking plays.
Round 4 was our first home game for the season, and it looked set to be a wet and windy one. Playing against Darling Range Sports College was always going to be a tough contest. After a tight first half in challenging conditions — with the wind working in our favour — we went into the break with a narrow lead: 1.3 (9) to 1.0 (6).
After halftime, Darling Range came out firing and kicked the opener of the half to take the lead. Knowing they had the wind advantage for the second half, we knew it would be a tough effort to hold on. Aaron McKenna was captain for this round and led from the front as the general down back, helping to curb their early momentum. The boys settled quickly and responded with two important goals, sparked by a best on ground performance from Ollie Mazzoleni. Darling Range kicked another to keep the contest tight before Thomas Gibbs, being as strong as ever, answered back with a goal of his own to maintain a two-goal buffer. From there, the boys took control of the game, with Ollie adding another to finish with four goals and help secure a solid St Norbert's win: 5.3 (33) to 3.1 (19).
This win was a great reward for the team’s continued development and effort across the competition. The boys showed resilience, teamwork, and discipline under pressure — traits that have grown stronger each round. With one game left in the season, the team is building momentum and looking to finish the campaign on a high in front of a home crowd at Queens Park Reserve.
