Principal Post

Dear Families,

Congratulations to our Year 5-6 students who completed their Debating Program last week. This seven week course has assisted students with their public speaking skills.  It is very challenging for many people, child and adult to speak publicly, or to formally argue a point. The Debating course has been both supportive and challenging.  Well done to all our students. For further detail please read our Report.

As mentioned last week, we congratulate and wish  Bec Chan every blessing as she takes up her appointment at MACS as Literacy Learning Partner beginning Term 3.

Bec has been at our school for 16 years, working in various roles as a classroom teacher, Student Wellbeing Leader and most recently our Learning and Teaching Leader. We thank Bec for her outstanding contribution to our school over considerable time.

I will let you know when we have a replacement teacher or alternative arrangements.

Grandparents Day

We will be celebrating Grandparents Day on Friday 25th July.  5/6N will be hosting their class Mass on this day and we invite the grandparents of 5/6N students to attend the Mass.  Due to limited seating in the church, we are unable to seat all grandparents.  However, we welcome all grandparents to join us for a celebratory morning tea in the Performing Arts Area at 10am and classroom activity to follow. More information will be shared with families next week.  Please save the date

Extended Leave / Holidays

Just a reminder, if you are planning for your child to be away for 5 or more days in Term time  you must complete the following Extended Period of Absence Form and hand in to the office. This form is also available on our website and in hard copy from the office.

Please note that your child will miss out on learning of concepts taught in school whilst away. As parents you are encouraged to find Literacy & Numeracy activities to keep your child learning particularly if you are away for an extended period of time. Whilst teachers can assist you with ideas it is not the teacher's role to source worksheets etc.
