Prep News

Literacy

This week in Literacy, we have begun learning new digraphs: ‘up the hill’ /ll/, ‘what a mess’ /ss/, and ‘huff and puff’ /ff/. We’ve been listening closely for these sounds in words and practising how to read and write them. In writing, we have continued to follow the writing process—thinking, drafting (labelling and writing), editing, and publishing. The students have been working hard to become creative writers and are showing pride in their published work!

Maths

In Maths, we’ve been exploring 2D shapes and noticing the shapes around us—in the classroom, outside, and all around our school! We have been learning the names and properties of common shapes and using them in creative ways. A highlight this week was making self-portraits out of 2D shapes. The students enjoyed counting and recording how many of each shape they used.
