Year 5/6 - Newsletter

Week 10, Term 2
Hi 5/6 Parents,
As we wrap up a wonderful Term 2, here's a snapshot of what our Year 5/6 students have been up to this week:
Reading
Students have successfully completed their Literacy Circles. It has been fantastic to see them engage in their final group meetings, where they shared thoughtful insights and reflections on their novels. The discussions showed great depth of understanding and collaborative thinking.
Writing
Our focus in writing has shifted to debating and persuasive techniques. Students have been exploring how to argue viewpoints that differ from their own. They've also revisited the structure of persuasive writing to strengthen their ability to construct convincing arguments.
Maths
In maths, we’ve been investigating mass, volume and capacity. Students have engaged with both written tasks and hands on activities to develop a practical understanding of these concepts. It’s been a great opportunity for them to apply their learning in real-world contexts.
Inter-school Sport
A reminder that Friday 27th June marks our final inter-school sport match, making up for a missed round against Holy Trinity Primary School. This home game is shaping up to be a big one, acting as a grand final for many teams to determine who progresses to the division finals. Most games will start at 1:00pm. Families are welcome to come and support.
Reminders
• We’ve had a number of students away recently. Please continue to keep your child
home if they are feeling unwell to help us all stay healthy.
• Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, 2nd July. Bookings can be
made through Compass. Please ensure you’ve locked in a time.
• Early Dismissal: Students will finish at 2:30pm on Friday, 4th July, the last day of
Term 2.
Thank you for your continued support this term. Have a great holiday break!
