Term 1 Week 8
It was wonderful to see such diversity being celebrated during Harmony Week this week! Harmony Week is all about promoting inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of their cultural background. It’s a great time to celebrate the rich variety of cultures, traditions, and experiences that make up our community here at MPRPS.
This week, Grade 1 - 6 teachers, students, and families came together for Three-Way Conferences. These conferences provided an important opportunity for families to engage directly in their child’s learning journey. Students, teachers, and parents were able to have open and meaningful conversations about progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
It was a chance for students to reflect on their achievements, share their goals, and take ownership of their learning. For families, it was an opportunity to ask questions, gain deeper insight into their child’s development, and discuss strategies to support continued success at school.
Foundation familiesattended an informative evening, followed by a visit to the classroom to see the amazing work their children have been doing. It was a wonderful chance for parents to connect with teachers, gain a better understanding of the classroom environment, and celebrate their child's learning achievements.
NAPLAN for this year has now concluded and we want to extend our congratulations to both students and teachers for their outstanding efforts throughout the assessment period. Everyone worked hard to prepare and engage with the tests.
Students should be proud of their dedication and focus, showing great resilience and determination. Teachers, too, have been instrumental in guiding and supporting students through the process, ensuring that they felt confident and prepared. Please remember that this is just one aspect of our students' learning journey and is intended to provide a snapshot of their progress that helps us understand where our students are in their learning and how we can best support them.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and plays a vital role in shaping the events that bring our community together. The committee will review the results at our next meeting.
As we start the planning we’re looking forward to a wonderful day filled with exciting activities, entertainment, delicious food, and plenty of opportunities for everyone to connect and enjoy themselves.
Our next planning meeting is Wednesday 26th of March at 6pm in the staffroom.
At MPRPS we have a range of incursions and excursions that provide valuable learning experiences that go beyond the classroom setting.
Today the Grade 1/2 students had an exciting adventure as they walked to Brentford Square as part of their 'Nunawading Navigators' unit. This hands-on learning experience gave them the opportunity to explore and discover more about their local community, helping to bring their classroom lessons to life.
There was also much excitement outside when the Fire Brigade came to visit our Foundation students today. The children’s faces lit up as they gathered around, eager to learn about the fire trucks, the firefighters' gear, have a go at the fire hose (the best bit!) and the important work they do to keep the community safe.
Parent and Friends funding has been used to purchase BIG Jenga, Connect 4 and Dominoes, which are fantastic choices because they offer fun and engaging ways for students to socialise, think strategically, and develop fine motor skills.
These games can be used both indoors and outdoors, making them flexible and enjoyable year-round, no matter the weather.
As we near the end of the term, excitement is building around the production of Seussical the Musical Jr. The cast and crew have been working hard, bringing the vibrant, whimsical world of Dr. Seuss to life. With colourful characters, catchy tunes, and a heartwarming story, it's shaping up to be an unforgettable performance.
