NAPLAN 2025

The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 7 and 9 will participate in the NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The NAPLAN Online testing is tailored and adapts to student responses, presenting students with questions that may be more or less difficult - resulting in more accurate and precise responses. Students are assessed against four levels of proficiency: Exceeding, Strong, Developing and Needs Additional Support.

We appreciate the efforts and engagement that our students will put into the NAPLAN tests whilst also recognising that this is just one measure of success in a student’s academic journey. In addition to developing core skills in literacy and numeracy, the values taught through O’Connor Catholic College provide our students with the foundation to be collaborative, critical and creative thinkers, and leaders who demonstrate resilience.

NAPLAN testing will be held between Wednesday 12th March and Monday 24th March 2025.  More information related to NAPLAN including information for parents and carers has been sent home and available via Compass. If you do have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the College, or access the following websiteM where more information for parents and carers can be found National Assessment Program

The Power of Clarity, Communication and Consistency in Learning

At O’Connor Catholic College, we are committed to fostering a learning environment where every student thrives. As Leader of Pedagogy, I see firsthand the impact that Clarity, Communication, and Consistency have on student success. These three aspects guide our teaching practices and ensure that students are supported, engaged, and empowered in their learning journey.

As we continue striving for excellence, we encourage our school community to embrace these principles in learning and beyond. Together, through Clarity, Communication, and Consistency, we can empower every student to reach their full potential.
