Snapshot of Learning  - Year 3

Year 3 - Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday, 5th of March, our Year 3 students gathered reverently to participate in an Ash Wednesday liturgy, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. The students demonstrated respect and reverence, quietly reflecting as they received ashes on their foreheads — a symbol of their commitment to prayer, repentance, and kindness during Lent.

During the liturgy, students listened attentively to the readings and joined in with prayers and songs, reminding them of the significance of this important day in the Church calendar. To begin the Lenten journey, all St Simon’s classes received a pot of soil, which was sprinkled with flower seeds and a small amount of ashes. This reminded us that just as we received ashes on our foreheads to begin our Lenten journey, these seeds will also begin their journey of growth — blessed with a sprinkling of ashes to help them along the way.

Through their participation, the Year 3 students displayed a strong sense of community and faith, embracing this special opportunity to deepen their connection with God.
