Last week in Foundation, we had a blast! Students engaged in dynamic group activities with a focus on teamwork and following instructions. We are learning formation signals such as ‘listening lines’ and ‘activity circles’ as well as exploring directions, pathways and different types of movements. We even had a quick introduction to GaGa Ball. This week we will be exploring hula hoops with a focus on balancing, spinning, rolling, games and relays. Look out for photos in the next newsletter.
We had some very excited students on Wednesday and a great first session with Shelley from Football Australia! Our first week of the MiniRoos program introduced students to the basics of soccer, focusing on key skills like dribbling, toe tapping, and change of direction. We played games like "Red Light Green Light" and practised one-on-one attack and defence to build confidence with the ball. We are really looking forward to the next three weeks.
Students have been staying active and having fun with a variety of different tag games to warm up. These games help build agility, coordination, and teamwork, making them a great start to each session. Students have been focusing on the correct techniques for the shot put, discus, long jump, and triple jump and students have been working hard to develop their skills. This week’s focus will be on the high jump, where they practise the technique of clearing the bar. It’s been exciting to see them improve their form and gain confidence!
