Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of St Brendan’s,
What a truly wonderful two weeks we've had at St Brendan's, filled with memorable moments that have highlighted the spirit of learning, faith, and community that makes our school so special.
We began with heart warming celebrations of faith, including our Mass to celebrate the commencement of the school year and our Year 3 Reconciliation workshop and Presentation Mass on Saturday evening, which offered our students the opportunity to reflect on and deepen their spiritual journey. These events serve as a beautiful reminder of the values we hold dear and how we continue to grow in faith together. A heartfelt thank you goes to Father Shymon, whose warm and generous presence at every Mass and celebration is greatly appreciated. My sincere congratulations also goes to our Year 3/4 teachers: Nicola Cooper, Kate O’Leary, Kim McKeown and Julie Kloppenborg and our Religious Education Leader, Emma Chapple for the beautiful and respectful way they support our students in their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We would also like to congratulate Oliver McG, Charlotte McG, and Veronica C, who were baptised at Mass on Saturday evening. We are so pleased to welcome you as members of the Catholic community at St Brendan’s.
Another highlight from the past two weeks was our Kaboom Sports afternoon, where our Year 6 House captains led team-building activities and confidence-building exercises. The afternoon was filled with energy, laughter, and teamwork, and a huge thank you goes to our House captains for their leadership and enthusiasm—they truly did an outstanding job!
We are also deeply grateful to Their Care, our O.H.S.C provider, for organising a fantastic sausage sizzle. It was a great success, and it was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents come together to share in the fun and community spirit.
In sports news, I had the privilege of attending the District Swimming Trials, where our talented swimmers: Ellie B, Levi S, Chantelle P, and Maverick M,gave their best performances, proudly representing St Brendan’s. I am thrilled to announce that Ellie and Maverick have progressed to the next stage! Congratulations to them, as well as to all of our swimmers for their dedication and effort.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but what a joy it has been to witness our students thriving in so many areas. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support and involvement in making St Brendan’s such a vibrant and caring community.
As a reminder, St Brendan’s will be closed on Friday, 7th March, as our staff will be attending the Catholic Leadership Centre for their bi-annual staff conference. This year’s focus is on staff wellbeing, where the goal is for each staff member to design their self-leadership map. The purpose of the work is to discuss with staff ways to become high in well-being so that both our personal and professional lives are balanced and enriched. We believe that nurturing our own wellbeing is essential for being effective in both our work and within our families. Additionally, St Brendan’s will be closed on Monday, 10th March, for the Labour Day public holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, 11th March.
Wishing you all a wonderful long weekend ahead.
