Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,
Public Holiday Monday,
Pupil Free Day Tuesday,
See you back Wednesday!
We were pleased to present Ava with her badge at assembly on Monday, completing the School Captain badge presentations so we can now share a photo of our 4 wonderful school captains! We are so proud of your leadership development and achievements in the short space of time that you have been our school leaders. We know you will continue to shine throughout the year :-)
Goal Setting Conferences
On Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th March, families are invited to book a Goal Setting Conference time with their child's teacher to discuss individual goals and the strategies and supports that will help to achieve them. Bookings can be made via Compass. We recommend and highly encourage student involved at the conferences.
If an SSG is scheduled for this term, families do not need to also book a Goal Setting Conference as student goals have already been shared and discussed.
SAC Full Day Program
A full day program is being run on the pupil free day, Tuesday 11th March.
Booking registration closes at 5pm Friday 7th March.
Due to staffing requirements, no late bookings can be accepted.
School council elections and call for nominations
Do you want to contribute and collaborate with others to positively impact our students at HPS? We would love you to nominate to join our school council.
Council meets twice a term from 6-8pm on Tuesday's. We would value your input so fill out a nomination form and hand to the office or email to heidelberg.ps@education.vic.gov.au by 4pm Wednesday 12th March.
Ramadan
We have many people in our community currently observing Ramadan.
Ramadan is considered one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims. In Ramadan, Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Qur’an, and fast from food and drink during the sunlit hours as a means of drawing closer to God and cultivating self-control, gratitude, and compassion for those less fortunate. Ramadan is a month of intense spiritual rejuvenation with a heightened focus on devotion, during which Muslims spend extra time reading the Qur’an and performing special prayers.
Ramadan Mubarak!
International Women's Day
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.
Marked annually on March 8th, IWD is one of the most important days of the year to:
- celebrate women's achievements
- educate and awareness raise about women's equality
- call for positive change advancing women
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
- fundraise for women-focused charities
Everyone, everywhere can play a part in helping forge gender equality. From a wide range of IWD campaigns, events, rallies, lobbying, and performances - to festivals, parties, fun runs, and celebrations - all IWD activity is valid. That's what makes IWD so inclusive.
So make IWD your day and do what you can, in your own way, to help forge a gender equal world.
