FAITH MATTERS

MRS ALISON WRIGHT - DIRECTOR OF FAITH & MISSION

This week, students from all homerooms have participated in the Big Water Walk. This was a challenge for students to carry two buckets of water and walk through an obstacle course, trying to keep as much water as they could in both buckets!

The Big Water Walk has been held to help raise awareness for the communities that have to walk for hours to collect their water. It is an initiative from Caritas during this Lenten season.

Our House captains have helped with running this event each lunchtime during this week.

My sincere thanks to the students who have been involved!

We continue to collect money for Project Compassion. A huge congratulations to Woods 5, who have donated $50 so far! We have set a target of $500 for our whole school community to raise - not quite $1 each. With only one week to go, a BIG effort is required next week to meet our target amount!

Yesterday, Thursday, March 27th, our Year 11 Religious Education students attended an online Youth Engagement session with a representative from St Vinnies Youth Centre from Melbourne. Four members of our local St Vincent de Paul conference (including President Brian Richardson) were in attendance as well. After the online presentation, students listened to how the St Vincent de Paul Society helps in our local community. It was a timely reminder of just how many families seek the assistance of St Vinnies in many different ways at a local level. Our school will participate in the annual Food Drive for St Vinnies next term in the lead-up to our Hearts and Hands Mass. In addition to this, we will (hopefully) start a Vinnies Youth group and work through ideas of how we can continue to support the work of St Vincent de Paul.

Jesus light of the world, guide us

St Joseph, journey with us

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, pray for us
