PATHWAYS REPORT
MRS SALLY LOONEY & ANNA STEICKE
All Year 10 students have now had the opportunity to tour the local Swan Hill ambulance station, and it was a hands-on and informative experience for everyone.
Upon arrival, Karla and Ben gave us a warm welcome and guided us around the station. We got a close-up look at the ambulances and learned about the life-saving equipment they carry. The paramedics explained how they respond to emergencies, and we even had the chance to sit inside an ambulance and try out some of the tools they use.
One of the highlights of the visit was meeting a former St Mary MacKillop student, Henry, who is studying paramedicine at La Trobe in Bendigo as well as an Ambulance Community Officers (ACOs). He explained his own personal journey and explained the pathway he took, which was an inspiring addition to the tour.
We would like to thank everyone at the Swan Hill Branch for taking time out of their busy schedules to host us during our industry visit. We truly appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their important work.
During the Year 11 senior support lesson, Headspace facilitated a Work & Study workshop in collaboration with local businesses for our students. March is work and study month and research shows that receiving work or study support can have a significant positive impact on mental health and wellbeing, helping young people develop a sense of purpose, learn new skills, and build confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, it provides essential social and support networks, which are crucial for their personal and academic growth.
It was also fantastic to hear from former Mackillop College students Jason and Bonnie and their own pathway journey.
We would like to thank Headspace Swan Hill, Axis Employment, CVGT, Murray Mallee LLEEN, CUC and SuniTafe.
