Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:

Personal and Cultural Strengths is our Grade 1 to Grade 6 topic for Respectful Relationships this term. As part of this topic, our Grade 5/6 students have been learning from Aboriginal authors, whose stories and perspectives have helped them deepen their understanding of culture, heritage, and connection to Country.

Students have also been introduced to the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, building their awareness of fairness, equality, and justice on both a local and global scale. As a culmination of their learning, students shared their own visions for a respectful and inclusive school community where everyone’s rights are recognised and upheld.

It has been inspiring to see their thoughtful ideas about how we can create a more just environment for all.

Our SRC have been working exceptionally hard to create a plan for fun and fundraising throughout the year. They have worked incredibly well together as a team, with every member contributing their ideas.

This week, the SRC is excited to announce a new lunchtime club that will run for the rest of the year! After consulting with their classes and collecting and analysing the results, the most popular choice was… Sports Club!

The SRC will run Sports Club fortnightly (every even week) on Fridays at recess in the Manya. To ensure fair participation, junior (Prep–2) and senior (Grades 3–6) students will alternate weeks, so everyone gets a chance to join in.

Our first Sports Club will be held on Friday 15th May, giving the SRC time to organise rosters and equipment.

Our second exciting announcement is an upcoming fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House.

This May, we’ll be dancing every school day during National Families Week to support sick and injured children staying at Ronald McDonald House—and our challenge starts soon!

Every dollar we raise helps ensure sick kids can have their families by their side during some of the toughest times in their lives.

If you’re able to, please consider supporting our fundraiser:

Our dance fundraiser will run from Monday 11th May to Friday 15th May.

And here’s a fun incentive… if we raise $500 as a school, our teachers will get up at assembly and perform a dance for everyone!

Pop-Up Shop Results

Thank you to everyone who supported our pop-up craft shop at the end of Term 1. The support was incredible, and our students were fantastic shopkeepers and customer service stars!

Thanks to this initiative, we raised an amazing $1,170.05. The SRC has chosen to donate $500 of these funds to support the important work of Sunshine Bendigo.
