Education in Faith

Sacrament of Confirmation

Our Year 6 students have begun their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, the final sacrament of initiation in the Catholic Church. Confirmation strengthens and seals their journey in faith, as they are filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and called to live as active disciples of Jesus.

Throughout this term, students will be learning more about the role of the Holy Spirit, the meaning of the sacred symbols of Confirmation, and how they are called to grow in courage, service and faith within our Church community.

Information has now been sent home to families celebrating this important sacrament. This includes details about:

  • The Confirmation celebration day
  • Completing and returning the white Confirmation card
  • Important preparation dates

As part of their preparation journey, families are asked to attend Mass on the weekend. Regular participation in Mass strengthens students’ understanding of the Eucharist and deepens their connection to our parish community. Please remember to bring your student’s Confirmation Passport to Mass and have it signed by Father Anh or a member of the clergy.

Please also join us at our Confirmation Family Faith Night. This will be held on Wednesday 13th May at 7:00pm. This will be a special evening for families to reflect on the learning, explore the meaning of the sacrament together and prepare spiritually for this important milestone in your child’s faith journey.

We keep our Year 6 students and their families in our prayers as they prepare to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and take this important step in their faith journey.

Alleluia! He Is Risen

Last week, we returned to school and gathered as a community to celebrate our Alleluia

Liturgy. It was a joyful way to begin Term 2 together, acknowledging the Resurrection of Jesus at Easter and proclaiming the good news: Alleluia, He is risen!

We have now entered the Easter Season, also known as Eastertide, in our Catholic tradition. This special season lasts for 50 days, beginning on Easter Sunday and continuing until Pentecost.

The Easter Season is a time of joy and hope. During these weeks, we reflect on:

  • Jesus’ Resurrection and the promise of new life
  • The appearances of Jesus to his disciples
  • How the disciples grew in courage and faith
  • The coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost

Pentecost marks the end of the Easter Season and celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit to the

disciples, empowering them to go out and share the Good News with the world.

Throughout this season, our students will continue to explore the meaning of Easter and how we are called to live as people of hope, courage and joy in our daily lives.

Mother’s Day in Our School Community

Next week we celebrate Mother’s Day, a special time to recognise and give thanks for the strong, caring and loving women in our lives. We honour mothers, grandmothers, carers and all those who nurture us with patience, kindness and generosity each day.

In our Catholic tradition, we look to Mary, Mother of Jesus as the mother of our Church.

Mary is an image of faith, courage and gentle love. She trusted God, cared for Jesus, and continues to be a model for how we can show compassion and care to others.

Throughout the week, students will take time to reflect on the qualities of Mary and the special women in their own lives. As a school community, we offer our prayers in gratitude for all mothers and carers, asking God to bless them with strength, joy and peace.

We also remember in our prayers those for whom Mother’s Day may be difficult, holding them gently in our thoughts and hearts.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful women in our community.
