Yesterday, our girls rugby league team participated in the Newcastle Knights NRLW Gala Day. The girls represented EPS with pride as they played with great enthusiasm, teamwork and determination throughout the day. Competing against strong opposition from across the region, our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, resilience and growing confidence in their skills.

The team worked hard in both attack and defence, showing strong communication, support for one another and a willingness to take on challenges. It was fantastic to see the girls support each other, celebrate each other’s successes and improve across the day.

Several players made outstanding contributions. Eden was exceptional in defence and crossed for some terrific tries. Jamaya was powerful with her ball running and also added tries. Azaliah was strong and reliable in defence all day, while Kirra showed tremendous courage in every match. Akeiylah impressed with her speed and evasiveness, Jazarah was relentless in defence, Harper scored some brilliant tries, and Evana used her strength to great effect, making a big impact for the team.

We are incredibly proud of the way the girls represented Edgeworth Public School, not only through their effort on the field, but through their behaviour, encouragement of teammates and positive attitude throughout the day. Thank you to the Newcastle Knights and the NRL for hosting such a well-run event and for their continued support in growing opportunities for girls rugby league.
