Religious Education News

I’m hoping that everyone had a restful and relaxing holiday period.

Alleluia Day:

On the first day back of school, the students were able to celebrate the blessings of the Easter season on our ‘Alleluia Day’. Mick first led the school in the church to start our morning and read John’s gospel about the empty tomb and led the school through the meaning and significance of the occasion.

Back in classrooms, the students then participated in some activities exploring the resurrection story in more detail and the story’s relevance in our lives today. The students learnt about the idea of ‘Alleluia’ meaning a celebration (and therefore why we don’t use ‘Alleluia’ during Lent) and classes added a white/gold cloth to their classroom prayer tables that indicates we are in the season of Easter on the Liturgical calendar.

The Preps learned about the hope of the season and completed a picture that answered the question, ‘Jesus is our hope’. The Grade 1s explored the Easter idea of new life through the concept of a butterfly and answered the prompt, ‘Alleluia is when…’. The Grade 2s made some ‘Alleluia’ transformation artworks and the Grade 3s and 4s drew pictures that reflected the prompt ‘I say Alleluia because…’. The Grade 5s made Alleluia prayers to add to their prayer tables that they will continue to read throughout the rest of the Easter season and the Grade 6s created stained glass pictures that reflected the hope, joy and new life themes of the season.

After their time in the classroom, each grade level shared their learning and activity back in the church bringing the meaning of the season to life for the whole school. They also got an Easter egg treat to enjoy after all their Catholic tradition Easter learning.  Thanks to the teachers for the meaningful activities they planned for the students. While we are still in the season of Easter, we encourage the students to continue to look for ‘Alleluia moments’ in their daily lives at home and at school.

Sacraments 2026:

Fr. Andrew has just confirmed dates and details for those families wanting to celebrate the sacraments this year. An email was sent from the school yesterday regarding the Sacramental Program. If you didn't receive this please contact the school office.
