May Reflection – That Everyone Might Have Food
This May, Pope Leo XIV invites us to reflect on a simple but important hope: that everyone might have enough food. He reminds us that while many people experience hunger, a great deal of food is also wasted, and encourages us to be more mindful, grateful and generous in the way we use and share what we have.
At school, students will be exploring how small, thoughtful actions can make a difference, including through our upcoming St Vincent de Paul collection.
At home, families might like to continue this conversation in simple ways—such as talking about not wasting food, involving children in choosing items to donate, or encouraging gratitude at mealtimes. These small, everyday actions help build awareness, compassion and a sense of responsibility for others.
Together, we can help our children grow into people who care for others and the world around them.
St Vincent de Paul Collection – Coming Soon
Keep an eye out for more information in our next newsletter about this year’s St Vincent de Paul collection. In the coming weeks, we will be inviting families to donate non-perishable food items to support those in need within our community.
Our student Social Justice Team will be leading this initiative, encouraging our school community to give generously and put their faith into action.
This connects beautifully with Pope Leo XIV’s prayer intention for May, reminding us of the importance of ensuring all people have access to food and basic necessities.
We look forward to sharing more details soon and thank you in advance for your support.
First Eucharist – Important Dates
We look forward to celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist with many of our Year 4 students on Sunday 31 May at 10:00am at St Mary's Church.
Our students are currently preparing for this special sacrament, deepening their understanding of the Eucharist and what it means to be welcomed into a fuller participation in the life of the Church. This is an important milestone in their faith journey, and we continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare.
Across this term, all Year 3 & 4 students are engaging in learning that explores what it means to live together as kind, compassionate and respectful people. For students preparing for First Eucharist, this learning also connects to understanding the Eucharist as a moment that strengthens Christians to go out and live in the way of Jesus, showing care, generosity and love for others.
Important dates to note:
- Faith Formation Evening – Tuesday 12 May, 6:30pm at St Anthony's Church
- Reconciliation (Year 4) – Wednesday 13 May, 9:45am at St Mary’s Church
