Child Safety
Child Safety Champions
At Huntingtower, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for every student. To ensure we are proactive in this space, Child Safety Champions have been selected who have taken on the responsibility of actively promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing of all students. They are approachable advocates who ensure our child safety policies are understood, adhered to, and effectively implemented throughout the school.
The key responsibilities of Child Safety Champions revolve around raising awareness, providing guidance, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the school community. They actively engage members of the school community in understanding the school's commitment to child protection, ensuring everyone is informed of procedures and policies that prioritise student wellbeing. As trusted figures, Champions offer guidance and support to those with safety concerns, ensuring best practices are followed and appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place. They play a pivotal role in monitoring the effectiveness of child safety strategies, following up on issues, and making necessary reports to leadership or external authorities. In fostering a child-centric culture, they ensure the voices and rights of children are prioritised, encouraging students to speak up if they feel unsafe.
Additionally, Child Safety Champions work collaboratively with leadership teams, wellbeing staff, and relevant agencies to promote a unified approach to child protection, engaging the entire school community in discussions about safety, rights, and responsibilities. Their role ensures that child safety remains a central focus, creating an environment where students feel protected, respected, and supported.
If you have any questions or concerns about child safety, or if you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our Child Safety Champions. Their role is to ensure every student thrives in a secure and caring environment, and they are here to support our entire school community.

Child Safety Champions
As part of School processes, we regularly reviewed and updated our policies and procedures typically every two years or whenever changes are necessary to support child safety and wellbeing.
With the introduction of the new Child Safe Standards in Victoria in July 2022, the School has recently undertaken a process of consultation and updates to several key documents. Over the next two years, we will continue to engage students, parents, and staff in reviewing and providing feedback on Child Safety in the School. These discussions are aimed at continuing to foster a child-safe culture within our community.
The School has recently expanded the number of Child Safety Champions available to students. We encourage any student who feels unsafe to reach out to one of the School's Child Safety Champions for support.
