Minasan Konnichiwa! (Hello everyone.)
Welcome to Week 4
Year 5/6
Students have been learning about the topic “At the shop”. They have learnt/practiced the names of food and drinks, how to count solid items and have been practicing how to ask or order items in Japanese. They have also learnt about Japanese money “yen” and have been practicing how to read them using the numbers up to 100,000! We had pair conversations to practice a skit at the shop and are having an oral assessment. We made one of the most traditional origami, a paper crane (tsuru), and wished for world peace.
Year 3/4
Students have been learning about the topic “At the shop”. They have learnt and practiced some names of the food and drinks in Japanese, and learnt how to order items at the shop. We also practiced how to order multiple items and asking how much they were. We made an Origami trick sailing boat. It is an origami that the whole family can have fun with!
Year 1/2
Students have been learning about “Fruits”, “Body parts” and “Family members”. They usually have oral practice and write the words in Japanese. They always enjoy drawing pictures after writing to reinforce the meaning of the words. I have been seeing a lot of neat Hiragana writing. It is impressive!
Foundation
Students have been regularly practicing the words and phrases that they learnt this year. They have learnt so much!
We have been practicing “Old MacDonald had a farm” in Japanese using the names of animals and their sounds in Japanese. They wrote the name of the song in Japanese and drew a picture of a farm. Students took their work home, so please check your child/ren’s bag if you haven’t seen it. Origami has continued to be very popular. Have you seen a puppet and a house that your child/ren have made?
Have a great week!
