What's been happening in Visual Art this week........

Indigenous Circle Weaving Incursion Team 5/6

This week Team 5/6 students took part in an Indigenous circle weaving incursion run by Bianca Easton,  a proud Bunurong Boon Wurrung woman.

Each student begun a small circle weaving and once finish these will form the Team 5/6 legacy project.  It was a really challenging task and the students needed to demonstrate persistence and patience. Well done to everyone.

Bianca brought in some really interesting indigenous artifacts including a 'Marngrook', which is a ball made of possum skin that was used by aboriginal people to play a game that formed the basis of a game we all know well, AFL. She also showed us some possum skins and the students were amazed at how soft these were.

We will continue working on our weaving over the coming weeks and I look forward to sharing with you the finished artwork that will be placed in the library.
