Year 12 Celebration
Womin Djeka. We are incredibly proud of our four VCE students who were invited to the Bayside Peninsula Koorie Year 12 Celebration last week. Their achievements in representing both our College and young Mob are truly inspiring. A special thanks to Josh West of the Bunurong Land Council for his powerful message: “Stay proud and stay deadly in culture.” We celebrate their hard work, resilience and dedication to their studies and culture. Keep shining and continue to make us all proud!
Our Semester 2 Marrung Action Plan can now be viewed by our wider school community via the button below and really highlights student voice within our College.
Community Collaboration on Mural and Sports Uniforms
A big thank you to our community for providing valuable feedback to shape our upcoming Indigenous mural and sports uniform designs! It's not too late to have your say for the quick survey and share your thoughts click the link below.
1:1 Classroom Coaching
Our 1:1 Teacher Classroom Coaching program has successfully wrapped up with a focus on Year 11 students. We’re now shifting our attention to supporting Year 8 teachers as they guide their students through the end of the year and prepare them for Year 9. The focus will be on strengthening literacy and numeracy skills, while also incorporating engaging teaching strategies.
Peer Observations
Our pilot peer observation program wrapped up with insightful presentations from participants on the benefits of observing each other’s teaching practices. We are excited to announce that another 12 teaching staff have signed up for "Season 2," starting in Term 4. Looking ahead, we are currently developing a sustainable peer observation model to roll out in 2025.
Staff Pathways to Leadership Course Congratulations to our staff who completed the in-house Pathways to Leadership course led by our WPSC Teaching and Learning Coach, Judy Curson! Each participant identified a leadership project to work on, and they have now presented their findings and graduated. We are thrilled to see how these emerging middle leaders will continue to contribute to our school community.
Instructional Skills Observations
In the second half of the term, staff selected three focus areas for feedback, honing in on Instructional Skills, SWPBS strategies and the Western Port Instructional Model. This personalized approach has empowered our teachers to refine their practices and elevate student learning during a busy term.
Practice Meetings
Aligned with our goal-setting focus, Practice Meetings have provided teachers with the opportunity to reflect on their teaching at this midpoint in the term. These sessions are helping our staff identify strengths and opportunities for improvement as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
It has been a huge term for Marrung and our Teaching and Learning initiatives!
Wishing everyone a restful holiday break!
Kind Regards,
Brooke Roy
