A huge congratulations to Sam Field, who represented Victoria in cricket and helped secure 3rd place in a state-level competition! 🏏
Well done to all of our athletes for their hard work and sportsmanship this term. You’ve made our school proud!
Last week some of our dancing minded students head up to John Cain Arena for three days of what can only be described as chaotic insanity. Every year the Performing Arts Unit of the Education Department puts on a cracker of a show that involves government schools from across Victoria. We joined 78 other schools to put on the Victorian State Schools Spectacular for 2024. Our students braved early mornings at Frankston station, long rehearsals and lots of movement and organisation around John Cain Arena. We partnered with Crib Point Primary for all our rehearsals and look forward to having these students represent Western Port next year. Our students met some Home and Away stars, and performed alongside circus performers, acrobats, singers and dancers as they all worked together to produce a 3-hour show. Our students performed two pack out shows at John Cain, performing in front of over 5000 people across these two shows.
Get ready for a theatrical treat!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new drama classes at Western Port Secondary College! Students from all year levels have been diving headfirst into the world of acting, improvisation, and creative expression.
Our talented young thespians, ranging from Year 7 to 11, have been having a blast in class. From hilarious improvisations to engaging games, the students are not only learning valuable skills but also working on their social and group work skills, improving their confidence and forging lasting friendships.
As term 4 progresses, our students will be delving into an immersive script, preparing a performance to deliver to the school in November. If any student is keen to be involved in Drama classes next term, please fill in this form:
We are also continuing to run Drama Club on a Wednesday at lunchtime in the KPAC for any interested students. Come and join us for some fun and games and give it a go! No commitments, just come and give it a try!
Keep an eye out for exciting updates and performance announcements! Watch this space!
Over the last weekend of August (Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th), 10 WPSC students across Years 8 – 11 had their art displayed in the annual August Art Attack Exhibition. This yearly event is held at the Crib Point Community House and showcases the amazing creative skills of primary school and secondary school students, as well as many talented adults across the Mornington Peninsula.
Kimberly-Rose Nixon in year 11 won first place for secondary school entries! WOOH!
I am both excited and proud to be graduating from a Masters of Inclusive Education. The students at Western Port Secondary College deserve the best education based on the latest evidence proven practices.
Already we have implemented a Heuristic Scaffolding initiative which builds independent problem solving skills for students who need support. Inclusion is a journey and I am proud we constantly improving our knowledge and practices in supporting all learners. #everystudenteveryday
