Principal's Report
Dear families,
It is hard to believe that we have the end of another term. It has been a busy and rewarding term with many exciting things happening to provide rich and enjoyable learning experiences for all our children.
TOOLAMBA ATHLETICS
Congratulations to all the staff for their efforts in organising the Toolamba Athletics Day. From all reports it was a huge success.
FOOTY COLOURS DAY
On Monday, students participated in various footy inspired activities as part of the multi-age day.
PARENTS & FRIENDS UPDATE
Don’t miss your last opportunity to purchase a ticket for the Thermomix Raffle which will be drawn at assembly on Friday afternoon.
Join the community for the Bogan Trivia Night on Saturday 12th October at 6pm in the Community Hall. Tickets are $20 each and available on Qkr. This is the first social event for the year so please come along and join in the fun.
WORKING BEE
School Council are planning a working bee in the second week of the term break. (A XUNO message will confirm the day either Monday 30th September on Tuesday 1st October) The walk around by the buildings and grounds committee identified quite a few jobs to be done around the school. They include, pressure washing the concrete, mulching the trees in the plantation around the Frog Bog, blowing down the tiger turf, shovelling sand back in the sand pit and picking up rubbish around the school grounds. The committee would love people to come along and help with these tasks. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
TATURA ATHLETICS DAY
Once again, the Tatura Athletics gave our students and opportunity to showcase their talents and interact with students from other schools. Many thanks to all the staff who pitched in on the day to supervise students and run events. In our debrief on Wednesday we discussed adjustments we can make so that students can participate in all events especially the ever-popular relays at the end along with the presentation ceremony. Our feedback from the day will be communicated to the other participating schools.
FUN IN THE ART ROOM
Grade 2 students loved using plasticine to recreate creatures they had searched on the internet. The results were extremely impressive.
SWIMMING F-2
Term 4 commences with an F-2 swimming program at Aquamoves in Week 1. Grade 1 & 2 students will be in the pool, from 12pm-12.45 and Foundation students will swim from 12.45pm-1.30pm. Parents are more than welcome to go along and watch. As we will be only taking one bus, Foundation students will have their lunch and a play in the all abilities playground and then go swimming. Grade 1 & 2 students will have lunch after their swim.
SWIMMING FOR GRADE 3 -6
Following feedback from families we have decided to run a swimming program for students from Grade 3-6 in November. Aquamoves can only accommodate three one-hour sessions from Wednesday 6th November to Friday 8th November. The approximate cost of this program is up to $80 depending on how many students attend.
GRADE 5 & 6 CAMP
Week 2 will see the Grade 5 & 6 students and staff head off to Anglesea for a five-day camp. This is a fantastic camp packed with many exciting activities including Surfing, Canoeing, Crate Stacking, Radio Rogaine, Raft Building, Bush Cooking, Vertical Challenge, Archery, Skateboarding and Environmental Chase.
The following week those eleven students who were lucky enough to be drawn out are off to Somers Camp for ten days.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Congratulations to Jake and Rachael Jeffers on their success last weekend. Jake came 2nd in his BMX race in Albury and Rachael won the Vault event at a Gymnastics competition in Melbourne.
Congratulations to Tayte for competing at the Victoria State Title for motocross. Tayte finished 3rd in the state for his class.
NEWSLETTER
Some families have expressed an interest in having a hard copy of the weekly newsletter. Hard copies of the weekly newsletter are available from the office foyer. Families are encouraged to pick them up from there if they would like one.
We hope everyone has a lovely break and comes back recharged and ready for lots of new learning.
