Team Leaders Message
As we wrap up another fantastic term, we want to take a moment to celebrate some of the highlights that made this term so memorable. From thrilling excursions to unforgettable experiences, it’s been a term full of learning and fun.
Our Snow Camp was a fantastic getaway to Camp Marysville, filled with excitement and adventure. The students spent 3 days participating in various activities, team building games and using their initiative.
Key moments from Snow Camp included:
- Tobogganing and Snow Play: Students took to the slopes, many of them trying out these winter sports for the first time. The camp instructors provided tips and encouragement, making sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Crate Climbing: We challenged ourselves with the low ropes activities - a few students built and climbed towers of up to 10 milk crates!
- Campfire Stories: An evening was spent around the campfire, sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and reflecting on the day’s adventures.
Camp Marysville was not just about the snow; it was an opportunity for students to bond, challenge themselves, and enjoy the beauty of nature.
In our Discovery Unit, we explored the Olympics and Paralympics, with a focus on the role of STEM in sports. Students engaged in a variety of activities that highlighted how technology has transformed sports equipment, athlete performance, and event tracking. They learned about super materials like carbon fibre and used this knowledge to design their own wheelchairs, considering the needs of Paralympic athletes. Additionally, students designed custom athletic shoes featuring sensor technology to track and monitor performance, gaining insight into how technology is integrated into the Olympic Games to enhance both competition and safety.
We had numerous special events over the term such as Book Week where students dressed up as their favourite characters, National Week of Action: Bullying No Way where students wore a touch of purple every day and focused on being kind to one another and Green and Gold Day to celebrate our athletes competing in the Olympics.
Congratulations to Frankie in 9/10C for winning the Jagajaga Resilience Award 2024. He will be awarded his certificate by a Federal member of Parliament Kate Thwaites in the coming weeks.
Wishing you a wonderful term break and look forward to seeing you all for Term 4.
