Knox Division Basketball Championships Achievements

Our Girls and Boys/Mixed basketball team recently competed in the Division Basketball Championships on Friday, showing great determination throughout the tournament.

After a challenging start from our boys with a loss in the first game, they bounced back impressively with a strong win in the second match, 34 points to 24. Unfortunately, they faced another tough opponent in the third game, resulting in another loss against a tall strong side.

In the finals our boys gave it their very best but were outdone by a strong offensive team, overall ending the day in 6th place.

Our girls team showed great defence throughout the day and made excellent moves to the basket. Unfortunately in the first game their free throws and layups were not dropping in and lost by 1 point. Despite a loss in the first game, our girls made a valiant effort against The Basin but lost by 6 points. Despite facing two tough losses in subsequent games, the team displayed great teamwork scoring off excellent open jump shots. It was a great positive win in their third round robin game.

To end out on a positive note, our girl knew to give it their all and ran great set plays and strong full court defense. It was great to see a strong positive outcome with an end score of 37 - 12. With that win, our girls ended up 5th in the championship!

We are proud of their efforts and growth this year with our boys/mixed and girls basketball. Congratulations to our students for their hard work and dedication!

A big thank you to Luke, Rex and Scott for their continued support across this year as coaches, they have been amazing mentors for our boys and girls along their basketball journey this year!

St Simon the Apostle Swimming Program

Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4

Well done to all our students for their effort and level of respect during the Prep to Year 4 Swimming program in Term 3!

It was great to see our students connecting with their Paul Sadler swimming instructors and learning fundamental movements required in the water including arm strokes, floating/sculling water, coordination of leg movement and water safety.

They should all be proud of their achievements and would have received a certificate with the level achieved. We hope our students can continue working on their swimming or parents consider joining their child up for swimming lessons as they are fun physical activities for our children.

Year 6 Victorian Water Safety Certificate Program

Well done to all our students who have completed the Victorian Water Safety practical session of the Victorian Water Safety Certificate program!

Currently, at the beginning of this term, our Year 6’s will complete the knowledge component of the certificate. Certificates for the session will be celebrated at an assembly later in the term and given out at the completion of the program.

Congratulations to all our participants, especially those moving on to the next level of competition! We can’t wait to see what you achieve next. Thank you to all our parents for bringing them to the athletics track and for supporting them on the sideline.

For all students competing at the Eastern Regional Athletics on Thursday 24th October, there will be some time during the school day provided to prepare and train our students.
