From the Principal

A warm welcome back to the term. I trust you and your family enjoyed the break and are ready for a busy and exciting term ahead.
I acknowledge and thank the Administration, Grounds, Maintenance, IT, Cleaning and Executive staff who worked through the break to ensure school business continued in preparation for the term.
I also extend my gratitude to the staff for their valuable contributions and the diligent work they undertook to ensure a seamless start to the term for our students.
Welcoming new members to our community
Our new Head of Inclusive Education is Ms Uchanski who joins us from Georgiana Molloy Anglican School.
Joining our Administration Team, as the Student Services Receptionist, is Miss Sarah Wyeth. Sarah is also an Old Wollastonian - Class of 2019.
We also have some new families joining us this term.
I warmly welcome the new staff and families to the School.
Other staffing news
We welcome back Mrs Fiona Morrison, Mrs Shelley Mitchell, Mrs Wendy Brinner and Mrs Sonja Morfitt from leave.
ASC Immersion to Samoa
Over the school break, six of our Year 10 students attended the ASC Immersion to Samoa. Accompanying staff reached out to the School to express their pleasure in the contribution these students made during the immersion; they certainly did our school and themselves proud! We look forward to reading their reflections and accompanying photos in our next newsletter edition.
Significant events to begin the term
On Wednesday morning we held the Commissioning Service for our 2025 Prefecture. A wonderful service that provided the opportunity to thank the outgoing Perfects as they handed over the responsibilities to our new student leaders. The 2025 Head Prefects, Emelia Haydar and Jasper Palmer spoke of their gratitude and excitement to be able to serve the school community that has shaped their character and continues to guide them.
We have great confidence in the 2025 Prefecture, their values, commitment to serve and their ability to inspire those around them. They are encouraged to serve from their heart with integrity, compassion and courage.
Providing opportunities for our community to develop their faith is a key aspect of our work as an Anglican school. Under the leadership of Chaplain Justine, this continues to flourish at John Wollaston. On Thursday, we welcomed The Right Reverend Hans Christiansen to the School to baptise and confirm two Secondary students. Attended by families, sponsors, staff and students this service was a defining moment in the faith journey of these two young people and a heartwarming affirmation of our school’s Anglican distinctiveness.
Baptism and Confirmation Service
Last night, against the backdrop of a glorious sunset and city lights, the Year 12 students enjoyed a memorable evening at their Valedictory Dinner. This event marked the beginning of Valedictory Week; a cherished tradition for graduating classes over many years. We look forward to continuing to recognise and celebrate the Class of 2024 next week at various events.
My gratitude to the staff who have played an integral part in the key events of this week, in particular, The Reverend Justine Coverdale, Ms Jaquie Fisher and Miss Rochelle Buttigig and the parents, friends and family members who have supported these significant occasions.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to sharing a wonderful term with you.
