As Term 3 comes to a close, we want to extend our congratulations to all students who participated in the BBI Club Basketball, Athletics, Hockey, Netball, Tennis and Volleyball programs. Your dedication to training, effort during fixtures, and pursuit of performance improvements have been commendable. Regardless of the program you were involved in, your commitment has been impressive. Please take a moment this week to thank your coaches and program directors for their hard work and preparation throughout the season.
As we head into the holidays, it’s crucial to take time to rest and recover. With so many academic and co-curricular opportunities available, it’s important to schedule some downtime for yourself. Whether you pick up a new hobby, explore something new, read a book, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk, make sure to recharge. Taking this time will help you return refreshed and ready for a busy Term 4.
Andrews Cup Basketball
On Tuesday, the Andrews Cup girls showcased their skills at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. The A Grade team excelled throughout the tournament, culminating in a commendable 7th-place finish after a thrilling final marked by impressive ball speed and precise shooting. The C Grade team demonstrated notable progress, securing a position in the 5th vs. 6th place playoff. Despite a narrow loss, they ultimately claimed 6th place. Competing in a round-robin format, the Junior team achieved an impressive record of four wins, two losses, and one tie, concluding their day with a 3rd place finish and a well-earned pennant. Congratulations to all players for their outstanding performance and dedication throughout the season.
Britton Shield Basketball
Clayfield College hosted the Britton Shield basketball competition at Hibiscus Stadium last Thursday, with a record 40 boys participating across five teams. The U8 team began their day with a skills session led by the Brisbane Bullets, followed by their matches in the afternoon. The U10 division saw three Clayfield teams in action: the Orange team placed 8th, the Red team 6th, and the Green team achieved a notable 2nd place. The U12 boys excelled in their competition, advancing to the championship game before narrowly missing out on first place. The day's display of exceptional ball skills, shooting accuracy, and team cohesion reflected the players' hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all for their remarkable performances.
Pre-Prep to Year 1 Games Day
Bright sunshine greeted our youngest athletes on the main oval for their Pre-Prep to Year 1 Games Day. The morning was filled with engaging activities, including High Jump, Long Jump, Throws, and Running Races. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and spirit of our youngest Clayfield students, who competed with smiles and determination. The event concluded with Participation Certificates and Zooper Doopers, enjoyed by all students in their classrooms. We extend thanks to the spectators for their support and to the staff members whose efforts ensured the smooth running of the event. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
We extend special thanks to Mrs. Richardson, who diligently prepared the students with the necessary skills and practice for the day. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to the Year 5 students who provided invaluable assistance to the younger students, both on the track and during the activities. Their interaction with our Pre-Prep to Year 1 students was a pleasure to witness.
