Earlier this term, Year 9 and 10 students had the exciting opportunity to attend the first-ever Interschool Spanish Day at Canterbury College, where they connected with Spanish language learners from four different colleges. It was a fantastic chance for them to practise their language skills through engaging Spanish-themed activities.
In celebration of Book Week, the Year 10 class read the second book in the series, 'Pobre Ana Bailó Tango'. Through this story, students expanded their vocabulary, challenged their reading comprehension, and explored Argentina's most famous dance 'the tango'. They even tried their hand at dancing and sampled some delicious Argentinian 'alfajores', which were a big hit with the girls!
Learning languages and their culture open doors to new perspectives and connections across the world. We invite students in earlier years to join us in this enriching journey and discover the joys of Spanish!

Our Year 5 students recently enjoyed a half-day photography workshop with Naomi McKenzie, a professional photographer with 15 years of experience in the industry. Naomi introduced the students to the art of film photography using traditional techniques and a still film camera.
During the session, students learned how to load a camera and carefully prepare to take their photos. Each student had six shots on black and white film, focusing on capturing unique and interesting perspectives.
Naomi also showed the students how to develop their film. They took turns applying special chemicals to the film and releasing air bubbles, gaining hands-on experience in the development process.
In addition, the students experimented with cyanotypes, or sun prints, by arranging objects on special paper and exposing it to sunlight. The results were stunning and showcased their creativity.
