Dear Parents and Carers,
My apologies for a shorter newsletter entry this week, with the damage to the school overnight, I have had to be working through ensuring the school is safe and ready for the holiday break.
We are at the end of term 3 and what a great term of busy, productive term of learning it has been at St Mary’s. Thank you to our wonderful staff who have worked so hard over this term to provide quality learning programs for our students. Thank you to our students for a terrific term, it is always a pleasure to see the progression and growth of our students around the term 3 mark.
Term 4 is always a busy one in schools, next term we have our biannual Fiesta which will make for a productive run through until the end of the year.
I am looking forward to a little pause in the action of Principal life over the holiday break. I’m looking forward to spending time with Hendrix and Zadie and having some time to re energise for term 4.
New Parish website
St Mary's Parish has launched its new website with great information on Mass times, Parish acitivities and celebrations. Be sure to check it out.
Fiesta 2024
We are seeking donations from businesses in our local community and beyond to ensure our 2024 Fiesta is as successful, if not more so, than our prior Fiesta’s and continues to build on a great tradition that this event has set at St Mary’s. If your business can offer a donation of either goods or services that could be used for raffle items, silent auction and spinning wheel, we would love to hear from you.
To donate simply complete the google form at https://forms.gle/LefiwqW5Bcr422JM7 or email us at sponsorhip@smascotvale.catholic.edu.au
Be Ready
My example of Be Ready for this newsletter comes from some of my teammates on the mats at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training. BJJ has a strong competition culture, where competing regularly is encouraged to work out the gaps in your game and the strengths you have. Preparation for these competitions can be gruelling with countless rounds of sparring, strength and conditioning and dieting to make weight limits.
Despite all of this hard work and preparation, the results can be predetermined. Performance on the day will always vary, however, putting in the time and effort to best prepared gives you a higher chance of success. This practice can apply to many other citations in life, we can never be sure of outcomes but we can prepare ourselves and be as ready as we can, for the challenges that we might face.
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay connected,
Denis Johnstone
