CEN Debating Competition

Our Stage 3 debating team consisted of Thabo Kunesu, Abby Walden, Lily Wishart, Sydney Wade and Zandrea Swart. The team argued wonderfully against the opponents. They were able to bring up some very compelling points and dissect the counterarguments thoughtfully. The topics were 'Students should be able to set their own homework’ and ‘Sportspeople make great role models’. Although the team didn’t gain a victory in either debate, they were formidable competitors and they gained a tremendous array of skills for next time. Well done Stage 3!

The Stage 4 team consisted of Clare McCormick, Katherin Hyde, Hamish Brown, and Archer Harrison. They had a wonderful morning, giving two great presentations based on the topics, ‘Should humans colonise other planets?’ and ‘Australia is the best country to live in’. In both debates, the students delivered persuasive arguments with compelling evidence, leading to two wins! As Hamish Brown said, “It was good.” Congratulations Stage 4!
