Year 3's Borambola Excursion
Term 3 Week 8, 2024
To say that Borambola was a complete success would be an understatement! Year 3 ventured out recently, many never having slept away from their families before and taking a giant step into the unknown. Accompanied by Mrs Baldwin, Mr Cox, Mr (Simon) Harrison, Mrs Gellert and Ms Clisdell, the students were all excited and nervous hopping onto the bus.
Once arriving at camp the nerves turned into anticipation and determination as they faced challenges and difficult activities with determination and resilience. We completed kayaking, a mud run, BMX riding and rock climbing. The aim of all our activities was to build teamwork skills and resilience in Year 3, these aims were well and truly achieved as we witnessed students yelling encouragement to each other when they faced hard tasks. Another highlight was during the mud run when many students could be heard crying "This is the BEST DAY EVER!".
While at camp we were also trying to learn Colossians 3:23-24 for our core value, excellence:
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
It was wonderful to see Year 3 taking this to heart, serving one another, without looking for recognition from anyone.
A BIG thank you to all the Year 3 parents who trusted us with their children, and supported us to have an excellent time away. Thank you to Mrs Baldwin for all her work behind the scenes to make camp happen, and to Mr Harrison, Mrs Gellert and Mr Cox who made our time away fun!
