Parent Career Panels

In 2023 and 2024, the School has successfully run Parent Career Panels to support our senior students in preparation for subject selection and career consideration. Our students find these sessions very helpful as they navigate the often tricky process of deciding pathways post Kilvington.

Our next Careers Panel in on Tuesday 28 May. We are seeking parents with experience in defence and emergency services including, police, fire fighters and aviation (pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers).

The session will run at the School from 12.00 to 12.40pm. Expect to arrive at 11.45am and leave at 1.00pm at the latest.

We invite parents from these sectors to submit an expression of interest to participate. Ideally, there will be three parents representing a role in their sector.

Andrew Johnson, our Careers Counsellor, will act as mediator and is also the contact if you are interested in participating. Please contact Andrew for further information via johnsona@kilvington.vic.edu.au.

School TV Special Report: Trauma Recovery

Trauma in children significantly disturbs their sense of safety and normalcy, leading to substantial emotional and behavioural changes. Such disturbances often result from exposure to traumatic events, which may be exacerbated by continuous media coverage.

Observing young people grappling with these effects can be highly distressing for parents and caregivers. Active involvement in their recovery is essential, as is recognising the unique, personalised needs of each child in responding to trauma.

This Special Report from School TV will help you identify a child experiencing trauma and how you can support them to overcome it. Here is the link to your special report.
