It is very important that students wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

2024 Team Vic State Team Trials 

Registrations are now open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Please see the new Team Vic Principal Endorsement Sheet process for the following teams in 2024:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Cricket 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)

Children are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Children are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6 

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place this Thursday 15th February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All students from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 9:30am and finish at 1:15pm. Students will walk to Bluewater. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist. Students are reminded that they cannot wear zinc on the day, because it leaves an oil residue in the pool.

Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered to help on the day. Can you please arrive at the pool at 9:15am.

Colac Division Tennis Trials

A small number of students from Years 5 and 6 have expressed their interest to play in the Colac Division Tennis Trials on Friday 23rd February at the Colac Lawn Tennis Courts in Church Street. This event will start at 9:15am and finish at approximately 2:00pm. More information will be sent out via PAM.

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

The Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival will take place on Friday 1st March at Colac Central Reserve. All students from Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. It will include many track and field activities including High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, 200m, Relays etc. The sports will start at approximately 9:40am and finish at 1:20pm. Students will walk to the Central Reserve. Students may still have a lunch order on this day. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.

Golf Coaching Lessons

On Monday 18th and Monday 25th March, the students in Years 5 and 6 will have golf lessons with golf pro Michael Bainbridge. Michael is very experienced in the game of golf and we look forward to him visiting the school. Students can wear their sports uniform on these days. Golf lessons will take place on the school oval. Golf clubs, putters etc will be supplied.

Name: Connor Redford (Yr 5JR)

1. What sports do you play? A sport I play is karate.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport is karate.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Karate is my favourite sport because you get to go to tournaments and win medals.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sports moment was when I got my blue belt.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in karate is that I practise a lot. I practise on Tuesday and Thursday nights for an hour and a half. It helps me to get fitter.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I can make new friends and it helps me to get fit.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my karate teacher.

8. Why are they your favourite? My karate teacher is my favourite sports person because he is someone to look up to.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? I do not have a favourite sporting team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My team mates who are in a level lower than me at karate would look up to me.

 

Name: Madeline Dooley (Yr 4SF)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are soccer and netball.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sports to play are soccer and netball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Soccer and netball are my favourite sports because I have fun playing them and I am good at them.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest moment in sport was the first goal I ever shot in netball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are my throwing, kicking and shooting skills.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is always fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports people are Clayton Oliver who plays for Melbourne  and Sam Kerr who plays for the Australian soccer team.

8. Why are they your favourite? They are my favourite players because I think they both have a lot of talent and I like the way they play.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting teams are the Melbourne Demons and the Matilda’s soccer team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? A coach or my team mates would say that I am fast, that I like having fun and I am good at shooting goals.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are swimming, netball and dance.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is dance.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Dance is my favourite sport because I love doing it and I am quite good at it.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I learnt how to do a backwards walkover.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are how well I stretch before and after I do an activity.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it gets me out of the house and keeps me active.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my dance teachers.

8. Why are they your favourite?  They are my favourite because they inspire me to get better at dance.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is my dance friends.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? A coach and team mates woujld say that I am very flexible and good at dance.
