Message from Paul Sharp

We are now in Lent, a period of reflection for Catholics around the world.

Reflecting on the last week, it has been an incredible week for Melbourne, with Taylor Swift mania doing something that we truly need more of, she brought people together.

Whether you like her, have a view of the hysteria or are still shattered like my wife in not gaining a ticket, what she did do is bring people together to celebrate as one. Just seeing clips, it was amazing to see the joy and unity within the group, and even outside the stadium.

Often today, the opposite is true. We live in a divided world where people seem to have stronger views and are more judgemental than ever.

In last week’s Gospel, we hear Jesus say The time has come and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

This idea of repentance is critical, as it is the glue that can join us back together. The famous proverb states ‘to err is human, to forgive divine’.

This Lent, we will encourage our students to forgive, to look at their actions first and understand the power of forgiveness.

This will ensure that Holy Family Doveton continues to be a shining example of a place that brings people together everyday.

Pancake and Prayer Tuesday

Thank you to all those who came along to our Pancake and Prayer Tuesday. We appreciated people’s flexibility with the times, and we were lucky to have so many parents here, in particular parent helpers.

It also helped get everyone out before the powerful storm that hit. Thankfully, due to significant investment we have made in maintenance of the roof in the last 6 months, our building and roof held up with no damage.

A particular thanks to Pauline Moran and Glenis Cheyne for their organisation.

Open Day

A reminder that Open Day is next Wednesday 28th February at 9:30am. Any prospective families are welcome. It will be the first of six days we have scheduled for 2024.

Leap Into Learning

All 3 and 4 year old's are welcome to attend Leap into Learning which happens every Thursday. It is a great chance for young children to get comfortable with school, but also for our families to begin to make strong connections within the community.
