2024 Team Vic State Team Trials 

Registrations are now open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Please see the new Team Vic Principal Endorsement Sheet process for the following teams in 2024:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Cricket 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)

Children are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Children are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6 

Well done to all the students from Years 4-6 that participated in the Sacred Heart Swimming sports. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the students, especially during the relay races. Congratulations to Arundell who were the overall winners on the day. A big thank you to the parents who assisted on the day.

 

A small number of students from Years 5 and 6 will be competing in the Colac Division Tennis Trials this Friday 23rd February at the Colac Lawn Tennis Courts in Church Street. This event starts at 9:15am and finishes at approximately 2:00pm. We wish these students all the best.

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

The Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival will take place on Friday 1st March at Colac Central Reserve. All students from Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. It will include many track and field activities including High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, 200m, Relays etc. The sports will start at approximately 9:40am and finish at 1:20pm. Students will walk to the Central Reserve. Students may still have a lunch order on this day. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.

Golf Coaching Lessons

On Monday 18th and Monday 25th March, the students in Years 5 and 6 will have golf lessons with golf pro Michael Bainbridge. Michael is very experienced in the game of golf and we look forward to him visiting the school. Students can wear their sports uniform on these days. Golf lessons will take place on the school oval. Golf clubs, putters etc will be supplied.

1. What sports do you play? Dance, basketball

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? Basketball

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because I can play with my friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest moment was when I got a medal for sport and also when I went on stage for my dance concert.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my speed.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I never get bored when I play sport.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my brother.

8. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite sports person because he has very good skills in football.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Collingwood.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? A coach would describe me as being fast and a good listener.

 

Name: Hudson Oborne (Yr 6TR)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket, football, fishing and basketball.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? Cricket is my favourite sport.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Cricket is my favourite sport to play because I like keeping and batting.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got three wickets in one game.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is being able to take a good catch.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I love the adrenaline rush you get.

7. Who is your favourite sports person?  My favourite sports person is Australian cricketer Travis Head.

8. Why are they your favourite?  He is my favourite player because he uses the same bat that I use and he is a very good batter.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Australian Cricket team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach would describe me as humble and a good sport.

 

Name:  Max Curran (Yr 6TR)

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is Basketball

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? Basketball is my favourite sport.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because I enjoy playing with my team mates.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I first started I got lots of ‘assists’.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my speed and I can dribble the ball fast down the court.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it helps me to be a better team player.

7. Who is your favourite sports person?  My favourite sports person is Australian Rubik’s Cube speed solver Felik’s Zemdegs.

8. Why are they your favourite?  He is my favourite player because he is an Aussie and he is the winner of the World Cube Association award. He is also a former world record holder.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach would describe me as a hard-working player, and a good defender.
