From the Student Leaders
This past Friday Ethan and I had the pleasure of attending the St Leonards Leadership Development Conference along with many other College Captains and Leaders from neighbouring schools. Throughout the conference, we heard from many leaders present within our country and community such as Kate Jenkins, Sex Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission 2016-2023, Zoe Daniels, Independent member for Goldstein and former foreign correspondent and journalist and Ryan Shelton who is a comedian, actor and podcast host. I can confidently say that we received lots of valuable knowledge regarding the idea that leadership is based on the foundations we create with others around us and about being pragmatic, persistent and patient as Kate put it. The conference included workshops that taught us about the different duties we have with our leaders and who they serve as well as how to engage an audience using mind, mood and movement. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to collaborate with other leaders and form connections that have allowed us to explore more of our own leadership style and also provided us with many ideas about possible events that we hope to introduce to the college throughout this year.
