Wine and Cheese Night

We invited our parents of Year 12 students to an introductory evening that promoted stronger connectedness within our wonderful Cheltenham SC community. Along with 30 parents, some of our senior teachers, coordinators and members of our executive team were in attendance.

To build on this for next year, we will include more pointed information about the year ahead as well as incorporate parents of Year 11 students who would benefit greatly from this night.

Thank you to all that attended and we look forward to inviting you all back.

Year 12 Big Day Out

We were delighted to organise a special day to build stronger connections within our graduating class of 2024. Students chose to take part in four self-care/physical sessions in the morning before enjoying a BBQ at Le Page Park. We ventured to Waves for some leisure time in the pool, playing games and using the Bungee Run inflatable to round out our day. Thank you for making this day such a success and we look forward to rolling this out in 2025.

A huge shout out to Jenny Aldridge and Justin Harris who volunteered their time to help make this day possible and we are tremendously proud of our Cheltenham Community for helping make this day such a success.

Student testimonials:

Very fun day, getting the option to spend time with peers and friends.

The Big Day Out was an event that allowed the whole cohort to enjoy a day together, learn more about each other and most importantly build stronger connections with everyone. Throughout the day the workshops were fun and interesting providing us with great strategies to manage stress and prepare for the year ahead. It is an event that I would recommend everyone attends next year as it increases a sense of community within the graduating cohort.

The Big Day out was a great day for the Year 12's to continue to build on friendships, and especially develop connections with teachers. It was a great day considering we don't get a Year 12 camp.

Year 12 Formal

On Friday the 16th of February, the Year 12 students attended our school formal at Merrimu Receptions. It was a much anticipated night, with everyone scrubbing up nicely and celebrating the beginning of our final year. I was fortunate enough to be the MC on the night, alongside Charlie Aldridge and our school captain Zoe Alikakos. The night was filled with unexpected awards (made my night announcing them!) and an abundance of laughter.

It was fantastic to see our school community come together and we are all so fortunate to have such a night, considering formals weren't possible a few years ago during COVID.

Additionally, we had a fantastic photographer, a fun photo booth that captivated everyone's night, and great food (including creme brulee). Thank you so much to all the teachers for organising the night and to Zoe and Anastasia for pulling everything together.

I hope everyone had an amazing night and that the Year 11s are keen for next year! Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to a hard, but rewarding year with the amazing cohort that we have. Good luck everyone :)

VCE VM Guest Speaker - Michael, FXD Workwear

We recently had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring guest speaker Michael, from FXD Workwear, a sub-branch of Globe. The session was not just a talk but a journey through his career.

Michael's story resonated with our VCE VM students as he began his professional journey as a bricklayer, then through an injury, he transitioned into teaching at TAFE. After being made redundant during COVID, he changed paths again and is now in his current role as a brand ambassador for FXD and Globe. His story showcased the importance of adaptability and a passion for one's work.

Our students were not only captivated by Michael's story but also treated to some freebies! Michael distributed free FXD socks and shorts, and even surprised two lucky students with brand-new skateboards! It was a way of giving back and encouraging the students to embrace their journey with enthusiasm.

The session served as a unique opportunity for our VCE VM students to gain insights into various career paths and industries, fostering a sense of curiosity and excitement about their futures.

Thanks, Michael!
