Every Wednesday lunchtime, team members from Kingston Youth Services have been attending CheltSec to play Uno with our Year 7’s. The aim of this is to help the Year 7 students with their transition to secondary school by building connections with each other in a fun and interactive way. They also provide lollies for the students at the end of the games which is a big hit!
This week is Pride Week at CheltSec. The Wellbeing team organised for the students to do some chalk drawing on the driveway with the students on Tuesday lunchtime, as well as having Kingston Youth Services play some lunchtime games on Wednesday. The students enjoyed giant jenga, bean bag toss and ring toss, as well as having some hand/arm painting in the Pride colours.
Reach Out have released new research about teens and tech, following a survey of over 630 parents and carers across the country. We found that:
It is important that teens understand the pros and cons of social media, and how to look after their wellbeing in the process.
For parents and carers, it can be hard to understand why their teen uses social media so much. It might seem like they’re always online or always distracted.
Please see the following article for more information: Social Media and Teens
For our students, the following article may help with ways to tame your social media use:

Chelt.Sec is pleased to announce that the Student Eyecare Program will be running at the school in Term 2, 2024.
An optometrist will be onsite during school hours to provide students with a free comprehensive eye examination that is covered through Medicare Australia.
1 in 6 students have eye conditions that go undetected. This is due to the high level of visual demand on their eyes from books, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Every student will receive a full report about their eye health and a prescription will be provided if glasses are required. The prescription can be taken to any optical store to get the glasses made.
