BERRY STREET EDUCATION MODEL -             Staff Professional Development is now complete!

To enact a whole-school approach to positive education and the explicit teaching of student wellbeing, as a staff (teachers and Learning Support Officers) have now completed the five domains of the BSEM (Berry Street Education Model).

The domains within BSEM are Body, Stamina, Engagement and Character, all anchored by Relationship at its core.

Over the coming weeks we will outline a few more of the strategies and tools that will be implemented across all learning spaces.  During our BSEM professional development worked on during student-free days of last year and over this long weekend, our wonderful presenters of Tom Brunzell (Director of Education at BSEM), Sarah and Doug,  guided us through this very practical evidence-based approach to teaching and learning, which aims to enable us as teachers to increase engagement with students with complex, unmet learning needs and successfully improve all students' self-regulation, growth and academic achievement.

In previous editions of our newsletters, we have explained some of these tools and strategies that have become School-Wide Practices such as : Our Morning Circles, Visual Daily Timetables, our Ready To Learn Charts and Plans and our Brain Breaks.

I look forward to sharing some of the many other BSEM strategies and tools adopted across our school in the upcoming newsletter editions.
