Mind, Body and Us

Prep to Year 2

This year, the Mind, Body and Us program has been extended to one hour each week! This exciting news means we will have the opportunity to expand our Wellbeing learning in a deeper and more meaningful way. During Term One, our focus is ‘Identity and Safety’. Students will explore their individual identity and how they can use their strengths in positive ways. They will focus on their growing self and bodies, learning about our body parts and how to maintain safe and healthy ways to take care of ourselves and one another. Furthermore, mindful strategies will be expanded each week from meditation, mindful drawing and yoga to ensure students are building a bank of calming approaches. Interactive games and collaborative tasks will be utilised to develop our social and problem-solving skills.

  • Discuss personal strengths and qualities that make each family member unique and special.
  • Acknowledge personal growth both physically and emotionally at home and provide opportunities to discuss how to keep our growing bodies safe.

Year 3 to 6

This term in Mind, Body and Us the students from Years Three to Six will be inquiring into the topic ‘Identity and Safety’ and what it means to have a ‘Healthy Body’. Within this topic the students will be making connections with their peers and exploring personal strengths and challenges as well as building a community of people they can trust while being aware of the influences of others on us. To compliment this unit the students will be spending time doing some mindfulness to refresh their minds as well as exploring the connection between being physically active and a balanced lifestyle through continuing to utilise the ‘Play is the Way’ program to help engage the students in physical activities that support their emotional and social wellbeing as well as their physical health.
