Student Wellbeing Across the Years: A Snapshot for Parents

We are excited to share insights into our comprehensive Student Wellbeing program, tailored to meet the developmental needs of your child from Kindergarten through Year 12. Grounded in research and observation, our program is designed to foster a positive and supportive environment for the holistic development of your child.

Kindergarten: Building Foundations

In Kindergarten, we prioritise the social and emotional wellbeing crucial for your child's development. Our program, Building Foundations" aims to create a nurturing environment, laying a strong foundation for future academic and emotional success.

Years 1-2: Developing Social Skills

Years 1 and 2 focus on evidence-based practices, implementing targeted social skills programs to enhance cooperation, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. The "You Can Do It! Education" program plays a pivotal role in fostering positive attitudes and values.

Years 3-4: Navigating Challenges

As children face challenges in Years 3 and 4, our "You Can Do It" curriculum provides valuable resources. It addresses wellbeing and mental health challenges, equipping students with essential values, resilience, and social-emotional skills.

Year 5: Multifaceted Approach

Year 5 requires a multifaceted approach. Programs like RespectRise and Open Parachute address bullying, anxiety, and stress. We emphasise empathy, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning to create a positive and inclusive environment.

Year 6: Managing Transitions

Acknowledging the transition to secondary school, Year 6 focuses on clear, differentiated transition support. We aim to demystify the process, providing resources and guidance for students, teachers, and parents during this significant change.

Years 7-8: Transition to Secondary School

Transitioning to secondary school in Years 7 and 8 is an exciting milestone. Our programs, including "Positive Beginnings" and "Empowerment," support students in building relationships, managing increased responsibilities, and navigating social dynamics.

Years 9-10: Navigating Challenges

Years 9 and 10 bring new challenges. Our programs, like "Building Relationships" and "Holistic Horizons," address relationship challenges, risk assessment, and emerging responsibilities. We cover mental health, stress management, and goal setting.

Years 11-12: Preparing for the Future

Entering Years 11 and 12, students face academic challenges and prepare for the future. Our Student Wellbeing program covers stress management, time management, and life skills. Online modules, workshops, and a Senior Retreat offer support and guidance.

We hope this overview provides a glimpse into our commitment to your child's wellbeing. Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out.

On Tuesday, 6th February our Year 3 and 4 students participated in  a live virtual classroom webinar about safe gaming and friendship challenges online. There were many points raised and students had an opportunity to collaborate with each other and their teacher discussing many points that were raised throughout the webinar. Many thanks to the Year 3 and 4 teachers and Miss Bowden for providing the students an opportunity to develop some protective strategies regarding online gaming.

Walk the Talk Program for Year 9 Students

We are thrilled to announce that our Year 9 students will be participating in the Walk the Talk program tailored to their gender, aimed at fostering personal development and addressing pertinent issues faced by young adolescents. The program will take place on Friday, March 22nd during sessions 1 and 2.

Boys will be participating in the Goodfellas program, which has been thoughtfully designed to support and empower young men as they navigate the challenges of adolescence. Led by experts in education and gender advocacy, the Goodfellas program seeks to debunk harmful stereotypes, promote emotional expression, and provide positive male role models to inspire our boys to become respectful and responsible individuals. This program is a proactive initiative aimed at addressing issues such as disengagement from school and fostering healthy relationships while combating violence against women.

For our girls, we have organised the Girl Essentials program, an engaging half-day workshop designed to introduce concepts of pastoral care and personal development. Led by the co-founder and CEO of Enlighten Education, this program utilises storytelling techniques to create a supportive and empowering environment for our young women. Through personal narratives and interactive sessions, girls will explore important themes such as self-esteem, resilience, and empathy, setting a positive tone for personal growth and development.

It is essential that all Year 9 students attend school in full uniform at the normal time of 8:15 am on the day of the program. Participation in these programs will provide valuable opportunities for our students to engage in meaningful discussions, gain new perspectives, and develop essential life skills. We believe that the Walk the Talk program will have a profound impact on our students, empowering them to navigate adolescence with confidence and integrity. Your support in encouraging your child to participate in this program is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Walk the Talk program, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your continued support.
