Play Based Learning

From the Play Based Learning Team

Dear Parents and Carers,

Exciting New Sensory Garden Sandpit at Our Lady Star of the Sea!

We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new sandpit, now located in the sensory garden at the back of the school. This exciting addition offers students a dedicated space for creative and imaginative play. We can’t wait to see the amazing things our students will create and explore in this area!

Play is essential for children, especially those aged 5-12. It helps develop social skills, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and physical coordination. Whether building sandcastles or digging tunnels, play encourages children to use their imagination and collaborate with their peers. These experiences are not only fun but vital for their emotional and cognitive development.

If you would like to donate any sandpit items (such as buckets, spades, or moulds), please send them in—we’d love to add to the area and make it even more engaging for our students. We look forward to watching them enjoy this new space and seeing all the wonderful ways it enriches their school experience!
