Family and Faith

From the Family Educator

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Little Stars Playgroup has been off to a very successful start with some big smiles and beautiful artwork being produced. Playgroup is being held in the kindy classrooms this term which gives our little friends a small taste of what 'big school' will be like. All siblings and any children who may be coming along to OLSS in later years are welcome to attend and we'd love to see you. Shoutout to Miss Willow, little sister of Vinny Usherwood in 1G, for the great writing of her name after we finished last week!

We are of course starting Playgroup with a short SPaR for our parents this term too. SPaR stands for Stop, Pray and Reflect. This gives us the chance to have a moment after the business of the morning and allows us all to relax and be in God's presence for just a few moments.

SPaR and Playgroup will be held every Friday morning straight after drop off, or straight after assembly rain, hail or shine.

Just a friendly reminder that we would like to invite Year 2 Parents and Carers to join us in the classroom for an In-Class SPaR on Tuesday 12th November at 2pm. Together with your child we will take a look at what the Sacrament of Reconciliation is all about and complete a craft activity to take home. Hoping you are all able to join us in the lead up to this special event in your child's life, their First Reconciliation.

Save the Date: Get ready to Grab the Guys and Get to Gymea!

It's BACK! The well received MEN'S EVENT presented by the Shire network of Family Educators will be held on Monday 25th November at 7:00pm at Gymea Hotel.

This year we look forward to welcoming back some of our previous speakers and NEW friends too as THE CONVERSATION CONTINUES.

Part 2 of this event is sure to be insightful, entertaining and supportive.

Mark the date in your diaries MEN and look out for booking details next week.

Please see some flyers below advertsing events that are happening soon, one being an event on the topic of "Digital Dangers & our kids" which is certainly a topical and much needed conversation for all families in the world we currently live. The other is a special women's retreat. As the season of Advent approaches, join the Missionaries of God's Love Sisters for Alight, a day to rekindle your faith and prepare your heart for the coming of Christ.

Lastly, please keep an eye out on Compass for some initiatives around Advent and our Christmas Appeal.
