Term 4

Welcome to Term 4, with the beginning of daylight savings the days are longer and the promise of sunshine is every present. We trust you all enjoyed a welcomed break during the holidays and there was a buzz about the classroom upon our return on Tuesday of Week One. There is much to look forward to this term with Camp, Swimming and the celebration of learning from the year.
Term 3 is always a term for consolidating learning and applying concepts with increasing consistency and skill. During term 3 students explored the concepts of 'characterisation' and 'narrative' by studying Rowan of Rin, analysing how dialogue reveals characters' thoughts and speech. They used key excerpts from the text to inspire their own creative writing. Through the picture book Piano Fingers, students examined imagery and symbolism, focusing on how figurative language shapes meaning. Mathematics had a particular focus on consolidating addition and subtraction strategies and introducing multiplication and its relationship with division. We continued to participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. The mini chefs whipped up all sorts of healthy and delicious snacks, not only learning great new skills in the kitchen but also in having a go and trying something new to eat.
Camp Kookaburra
In Week 2 this term, Year 3 students will embark on an exciting adventure to Camp Kookaburra in Corop, where they will engage in a variety of outdoor activities designed to foster teamwork, resilience, and a love for nature. Camp Kookaburra offers a unique opportunity for students to develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and create unforgettable memories away from the classroom. As they explore the great outdoors, they will also learn about the importance of environmental stewardship and respect for nature. This camp experience promises to be a highlight of their year, encouraging personal growth and a sense of adventure.
