Junior School Report
It's hard to believe that Term 4 is already in full swing, as we find ourselves starting to think about the final weeks of Semester 2. The last quarter of the year has brought with it a flurry of activities and events that have added excitement to our school days. Among the highlights of this term, we have had some very successful sporting teams participate in State and Southern Metro competitions and the conclusion of the College reading challenge with award for the top 3 readers going to Navreet Kaur, Cecilia Poon and Olivia Vo from the Acacia campus and Pavle Bulovic, Rosie Chapman and Anna Pham from the Banksia campus.
All our Year 7 students from across the College recently embarked on an unforgettable trip to the Melbourne Zoo, bridging the gap between theory and real life experience, enhancing their English informative writing assessment. During the visit, students had the chance to select animals of interest and engage with in-depth research while observing the animals in their natural habitat. This experience not only brought an exciting element to students' studies but also fostered a deeper connection between the students and the animal subject they were researching, creating a more immersive and enriching learning experience.
We held our Grade 6 Information Evenings on 29th October to prepare our Year 7 Class of 2025 students and their parents for life at Keysborough College. The Year 7 Student Captains proudly presented an overview of life in Year 7 with an overwhelmingly warm message to our new students about the amazing buildings, resources, programs and connections they will develop with the College. Our Grade 6 students will be joining us again on Tuesday 10th December for Orientation Day. We look forward to getting to know our new students and developing great relationships with their parents and families.
We take the opportunity to remind you about the College Junior School Production. We have some incredibly talented students who will be performing ‘Fight With All Your Might, The Zombies of Tonight’ on Friday, November 15th (7pm) & Saturday, November 16th (3pm and 6pm) at the Acacia Campus Theatre. Please come along to support our Junior students. Tickets can be purchased by the link. https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1308091
In addition, our award winning College band has been performing at a variety of venues such as local Primary Schools and for the general public at The Glen Waverley Shopping centre and they will be performing at the Dandenong Show. Please look out for them and show your support!
In the coming weeks as we approach the end of Semester 2, it is crucial that students confirm the submission of all Common Assessment Tasks for grading. We strongly encourage parents to regularly access Compass to track their child's work submission and monitor their progress in various subjects. Additionally, we'd like to remind families that homework support is readily available to aid students in completing their assignments every Thursday night from 3.30-4.30pm. Your continued involvement and support play a significant role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of our students.
Semester examinations for all Year 7-9 students will be held from 21st to 28th November. Assessments will cover English/EAL, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Languages (Chinese or French). Attendance during this period is essential, so please avoid scheduling family holidays or appointments during this time.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
