College Principal Report

Dear Keysborough College Community,

As we reach this special time of year, I want to extend my deepest congratulations to our Year 12 students and their families on an extraordinary journey. Last week’s Year 12 Graduation ceremony was a highlight, full of joy, pride, and reflection on all the incredible achievements of this resilient group of young people. The evening was a testament to our school values of Respect, Excellence, and Diversity. Seeing each student walk across the stage was a powerful reminder of the unique strengths they bring to our school community, and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they embody these core values.

Currently, our VCE students are in the midst of their final exams, and we wish them every success as they complete this last milestone of their secondary schooling. This group has worked diligently throughout the year, showing not only a commitment to their studies but a willingness to support and uplift each other. Their focus and hard work have set an exemplary standard for younger students. Year 12s, please remember that you have the full support of your teachers, friends, and family behind you during this time. Your efforts have impressed us all, and no matter the outcomes, you have already achieved so much simply by pushing yourselves to strive for excellence.

Our Year 12 VCE - Vocational Major students have equally left their mark on the school. In our recent end-of-year interviews, I was reminded of how integral these students are to the life of our community. They have gained hands-on skills and invaluable experiences through work placements and community involvement, embodying the best of what our school offers. Whether at local businesses or community events, their efforts reflect the respect and dedication we aim to instil at Keysborough College. These experiences not only enrich their learning but also demonstrate to others the important role our students play beyond the classroom, making meaningful contributions in the real world.

As we look forward to wrapping up the year, I encourage all students to finish strong. We have exciting changes ahead, including the new HeadStart program, which will offer students an early taste of the curriculum for the next year. This will give them a valuable head start and help ease the transition into the demands of a new year level.

Additionally, next year we will be introducing a new five-period school day, with classes running until 3pm each day. This new timetable is designed to make the most of our learning time together, and we believe it will foster greater focus and engagement throughout the school day.

I would also like to acknowledge the achievements of our Year 7–11 students, who have shown resilience and dedication across various areas, from academic accomplishments to sports, music, and other extracurricular pursuits. Each of you contributes to making Keysborough College a place where everyone feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. We are immensely proud of the growth and achievements seen across the whole school this year.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff, whose commitment to our students’ success and wellbeing has been unwavering. And to the families and carers in our community, your support and encouragement have been essential in helping our students thrive.

As we come to the year’s end, I look forward to an exciting 2025 where we will continue to embrace our values of Respect, Excellence, and Diversity. Let’s finish this term with the same enthusiasm and positivity we’ve seen throughout the year, setting the stage for another remarkable year at Keysborough College.
