Greece and Italy Study Tour

Exploring the Wonders of Greece and Italy: A Life-Changing Experience

Our inaugural study tour of Greece and Italy has returned, leaving our students with memories to last a lifetime after an incredible 14-day journey. This adventure took them deep into the history, culture and beauty of two of the world’s most storied countries.

The journey began in Athens, where students explored the iconic Acropolis and wandered through the vibrant Plaka District. They stepped back in time among the ancient ruins of Mycenae and had the unique experience of running on the original athletics track in Ancient Olympia. A highlight was the climb to the ancient Castle at Nafpaktos, where students were rewarded with stunning panoramic views. In Delphi, they learned about the oracle and its pivotal role in ancient Greek life, discovering why it was considered the centre of the ancient world.

From Greece, the group flew to Naples, Italy, where the adventure continued. They indulged in the local cuisine, including authentic pizza, and explored the beautiful town of Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast. The breathtaking views, shopping, and an afternoon mastering the art of gelato-making made for an unforgettable experience. The next few days were spent wandering through the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, where students could imagine life as it was thousands of years ago.

In Rome, the students continued their historical journey, visiting landmarks such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain—where they took part in the tradition of coin-tossing—and the legendary Colosseum and Roman Forum. A truly unique experience awaited them at Gladiator School, where they learned the skills of ancient warriors.

Throughout the tour, students enjoyed great weather, delicious food, and comfortable accommodations. They formed new friendships and strengthened existing ones, embracing the many opportunities that travel offers. Everywhere they went, our students received compliments on their exemplary behaviour, serving as outstanding ambassadors for our school and community.

This study tour of Greece and Italy was more than just a trip—it was a life-changing experience, offering students the chance to connect with history, culture, and each other in new and meaningful ways. We look forward to many more adventures to come!

Student reflections

I think this tour was a once in a lifetime opportunity and so glad I took up the invitation. This tour caused me to become more independent and learn valuable life lessons and social skills that I will use forever. I would definitely recommend going on another study tour in the future that the school puts on offer.  Rose B

Parent reflections

Our son was fortunate enough to embark on the Italy/ Greece trip in 2024, he came home buzzing with fantastic stories, memories and new friendships. We are very grateful he was given the opportunity and would recommend this trip to anyone who is considering it for their child. Leah W

From a parents point of view the trip was sensational. It was very well organised, the daily correspondence and photos allowed us to follow along with their travels. Kids that didn’t really know each other arrived home as great friends. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience everything that international travel offers and they fully embraced it. Jane M

This was such an incredible immersion experience into two cultures with such rich history, language, food, arts and architecture. It was also a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, develop independence, and responsibility. The communication from the school before and during the event was so reassuring. It was fabulous to see photos of the kids each day and what they were doing. What a wonderful experience. Cath B

The Greece and Italy tour was a rich and rewarding cultural experience for my child. She was immersed in different histories, food, culture and architecture. Travelling independently in a school group, taught her important life lessons such as organisation, budgeting and navigation skills. Julia R

We cannot thank the school enough for this amazing adventure all the students had. Madeline had the best time and saw some amazing history and ate plenty of pizza pizza pizza in Italy. Every phone call or video call she was so happy and just amazed as to what she was seeing. Especially after studying so much in Italian class and then seeing it for real. When asked what her favourite place was,  her response is always, "I just loved it all". She will never forget this experience and I thank you again. Definitely a lifetime opportunity. Michelle W
