From the Principal

Over the past fortnight, we have celebrated and farewelled our Year 12 students through a series of memorable events. Each occasion carried its own significance, ensuring that our students were honoured and wished well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Thank you to the many parents, families and friends who supported the Class of 2024 during these events. I also acknowledge and thank the staff who played a role during the week, in particular Ms Jaquie Fisher, Miss Rochelle Buttigig and the Heads of House – Mrs Pauline Galley, Mrs Sally Banks, Mr Quentin Hess and Mr James Winter.
At the Valedictory and Prize Giving ceremony, each student was presented and recognised and student academic and special awards presented. This year the School introduced a new award inspired by Ms Anne Ford’s service and dedication to John Wollaston Anglican Community School over 23 and a half years. The Anne Ford Award will be awarded to a Year 12 student who exemplifies compassion, integrity and inclusivity through their exceptional service and commitment within our school community. It was wonderful that Ms Ford was in attendance, allowing her to personally present the inaugural award in her name.
A list of the Year 12 award winners can be found in Secondary School News.
Today, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a time for our community to recognise and thank the teachers who make an incredible impact on the lives and futures of our students every day. A special thank you to the P&F for their thoughtful gesture in providing each teacher with a cookie and for our Community and Marketing team for organising the special treat and capturing many heartwarming moments this morning as students personally delivered the cookies, expressing their gratitude to teachers across the School.
This week, one of our Education Assistants, Mrs Margaret Bulsing was recognised and celebrated for the incredible work she undertakes as Secretary for the West Australian Association of Teacher Assistants. Mrs Bulsing received her award at a presentation ceremony held by the Professional Teaching Council of Western Australia. Congratulations to Mrs Bulsing on this wonderful achievement!
Please enjoy this edition of the Wollaston’s Wrap as you read through all of the activities from the last fortnight.
